Data corruption is the damage of info because of various hardware or software fails. Once a file gets damaged, it will no longer function as it should, so an application will not start or will give errors, a text file will be partially or entirely unreadable, an archive will be impossible to open then unpack, etc. Silent data corruption is the process of information getting damaged without any acknowledgement by the system or an administrator, that makes it a serious problem for hosting servers as fails are much more likely to occur on larger hard disk drives where considerable volumes of information are stored. When a drive is a part of a RAID and the info on it is duplicated on other drives for redundancy, it's very likely that the bad file will be treated as a standard one and it'll be copied on all drives, making the harm permanent. A huge number of the file systems which run on web servers nowadays often cannot find corrupted files in real time or they need time-consuming system checks through which the server is not functioning.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Hosting

The integrity of the data which you upload to your new hosting account will be ensured by the ZFS file system that we use on our cloud platform. The majority of hosting providers, including our firm, use multiple hard disk drives to keep content and considering that the drives work in a RAID, exactly the same data is synchronized between the drives all the time. In case a file on a drive gets corrupted for whatever reason, yet, it is more than likely that it will be duplicated on the other drives because alternative file systems don't include special checks for this. Unlike them, ZFS uses a digital fingerprint, or a checksum, for each file. In case a file gets damaged, its checksum will not match what ZFS has as a record for it, so the damaged copy will be swapped with a good one from another disk drive. As this happens right away, there's no possibility for any of your files to ever be corrupted.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Servers

Your semi-dedicated server account will be shielded from silent data corruption because all of our storage servers employ the effective ZFS file system. What makes the aforementioned unique is that it uses checksums, or digital identifiers, so as to verify the integrity of every single file. When you upload content to your account, it will be saved on several redundant drives working in a RAID i.e. the files shall be the same across all drives. All copies of a particular file will have the same checksum on all drives and ZFS will compare the checksums of the duplicates in real time, and if it registers a mismatch, which would indicate that one of the copies is damaged, it'll replace that file with a healthy copy from one of the other disks. Even if there's an unexpected blackout, the data on the servers won't get corrupted and there won't be any need for a time-consuming system check which other file systems perform after some failure, lengthening the time needed for the server to get back online. ZFS is the sole file system which can truly protect your content from silent data corruption.
